Our experienced family lawyers at Grange Lawyers in Maribyrnong offer practical, straightforward advice on a wide range of family law matters. Whether you’re navigating separation, parenting arrangements or financial settlements, we aim to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible. We also work closely with experienced family law barristers to ensure strong legal representation when needed.

Our family law services include:

  • Property Settlements
  • Parenting Arrangements & Parenting Plans
  • Child Support
  • Asset Protection
  • Divorce & Separation
  • Binding Financial Agreements
  • Spousal Maintenance
  • Court Representation

Property Settlements
Following separation, it’s important to finalise financial matters early. We help negotiate and draft legally binding Consent Orders to divide assets like homes, vehicles, superannuation, businesses and trusts. Consent Orders are approved by the Family Court and avoid the need for drawn-out court proceedings. If agreement can’t be reached, we can represent you in court.

Parenting Arrangements
We assist with Parenting Plans (informal) and Consent Orders (legally binding), outlining where children live, time spent with each parent, communication arrangements, and more. If parties can’t agree, we guide you through mediation and, if required, represent you in court proceedings for parenting orders, including recovery and contravention matters.

Divorce
To apply for divorce in Australia, you must be separated for at least 12 months. Whether you apply jointly or alone, we can assist with paperwork, service, and court appearances when required. We also help with special circumstances, such as separation under one roof or when a spouse cannot be located.

Child Support
We provide advice on your entitlements and obligations under the child support system and can help draft Binding Child Support Agreements which can include school fees, health costs and other expenses. These agreements require both parties to have independent legal advice and can offer more flexibility than a standard child support assessment.

Why Choose Grange Lawyers?
Located in Maribyrnong, we combine deep knowledge of the Family Law Act 1975 with a practical, client-focused approach. We aim to resolve matters promptly, cost-effectively and, where possible, without court. When court is necessary, we provide clear guidance and strong representation to help achieve the best outcome for you and your family.

The Appointment, Made Simple

At your first appointment you’ll fill in an information sheet with your details and then meet the solicitor. The solicitor will discuss your situation and where you want to be once the matter is resolved. You’ll receive advice as to what we can do for you and advice on what you yourself should do to ensure you get close to your desired outcome.
We also discuss court fees and our fees and how payments are potentially split with your partner so you’ll have an idea of what you’ll be facing monetarily.
If you decide you’d like to retain our services, we’ll start the work straight away.

Beyond The Appointment. Our Process

We keep you informed at every stage, so you’re never left wondering what’s happening with your matter. Every important decision is made with your full input and we always run letters and communications past you before sending them to your former partner or their solicitor. You have the final say – nothing goes out without your approval.
We keep you up to date with costs at every stage and we give you advice if your or your partner’s circumstances change.
